252) Drink Kopi Luwak Coffee 10 Oct 2012

[Gmail chat conversation between John & Laura on Jan 2, 2012]

John: I’ve got a new one to add to the list!

Laura: Oh ya…

John: You may not approve though.

Laura: I’ve already agreed to eat a bug, what could be worse?

John: Um…have you ever heard of a Civet cat?

Laura: No…I don’t think so.

Laura: What’s a civet cat have to do with us?

John: Have you ever heard of kopi luwak coffee?

Laura: Um, no.

John: Apparently it’s this really expensive and rare kind of coffee. Like $50 bucks a cup or something like that.

Laura: umm, ok?

John: Civet cats eat the stuff up, digest it, and poop it out. Then the beans are roasted and sold. I think we should try some.

Laura: You want us to drink cat poop coffee?

John: Yep. Check it out!

John: Kopi luwak (Indonesian pronunciation: [ˈkopi ˈlu.aʔ]), or civet coffee, is one of the world’s most expensive and low-production varieties of coffee. It is made from the beans of coffee berries which have been eaten by the Asian Palm Civet (Paradoxurus hermaphroditus) and other related civets, then passed through its digestive tract (From Wiki)

Laura: Um, I think we’ll have to discuss it when I get home.

John: Sure, think about. I think it could be fun….

Laura: I’m sure you do.

John: Love you

Laura:  Love you 2
